Career

In late October and early November 2009, DSP Media released daily teasers for the members of RAINBOW, before dropping the pre-release MV for “Gossip Girl”. The girl group then made their official debut on November 12 with the 5-song EP “Gossip Girl”.
On August 12, 2010, RAINBOW dropped the single “A”, which gained significant attention, followed by various other releases.
On September 14, 2011, RAINBOW made their debut in Japan and quickly gained traction in the country, even topping Oricon’s daily and weekly chart.
In 2012, DSP Media introduced sub-unit Rainbow Pixie, which consisted of members SeungAh, Jisook and Hyunyoung. The unit debuted on January 12 of the same year.
Meanwhile, as a group, RAINBOW dropped their 1st studio album, “Rainbow Syndrome”, on February 13.
On January 20, 2014, the second sub-unit, Rainbow Blaxx, which consisted of members Jaekyung, Woori, Seungah and Hyunyoung, made their debut.
At the same time, RAINBOW still maintained stable activities as a whole group.
On October 27, 2016, it was confirmed that RAINBOW would be disbanded on November 12 due to the contract expiration of the group members.
In November 2019, RAINBOW reunited for their 10th anniversary. On the 14th, they also released the self-produced single “Over the Rainbow” to celebrate this special occasion.
Personal life
In December 2024, it was revealed that Jaekyung has secretly got married to a non-celebrity since the first half of the year. Her agency quickly confirmed the news and explained the reason for secrecy, clarifying that there was no premarital pregnancy.

Earlier in October, Yoonhye also married actor Ahn Jae-min, and RAINBOW members where known to have gathered at her wedding.
Meanwhile, in 2022, Woori married a 5-year-older businessman after 1 year of dating. It was known that the former female idol met her husband after receiving the wedding bouquet of fellow member Jisook, who got married to programmer and entrepreneur Lee Doo-hee in 2020.
Hyunyoung expressed jealousy upon such a news, even changing her name in hope of finding a husband.
